Role Overview: As an ECC nurse, you will be an integral part of our emergency response team, collaborating closely with veterinarians and fellow staff to ensure outstanding care for our patients. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire patient care continuum, from initial evaluation and admission through to ongoing assessment and discharge planning. This position allows you to enhance your expertise in areas such as pain management, trend analysis, transfusion techniques, and mechanical ventilation, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct emergency triage, record vital signs, collect health histories, and document all interactions using electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Assist in the stabilization of critically ill patients upon their arrival at the emergency facility.
- Employ technical skills to deliver high-quality medical care, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and diagnostic imaging.
- Support emergency veterinarians during procedures, including induction, preparation, monitoring, and recovery phases.
- Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients, utilizing advanced technical skills, effective communication, advocacy, and compassionate support.
- Act as a vital member of each patient's healthcare team through advocacy, collaboration, and effective communication.
Qualifications:
- Current CVT, LVT, or RVT certification, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months, is highly preferred.
- VTS (ECC) certification is preferred, or a strong desire to pursue specialization.
- RECOVER certification is a plus.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience in veterinary emergency and critical care.
- Preferred experience in anesthesia and monitoring during emergency procedures, such as wound repairs.
Essential Skills:
- Strong communication and time management abilities.
- A collaborative team player with a patient and positive demeanor.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to anticipate the needs of patients and the team.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage stress effectively.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks.

- Available shifts include days, evenings, and overnight positions, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required.
