Masa & Agave offers an unparalleled cantina experience in the vibrant downtown Minneapolis area. We pride ourselves on utilizing authentic flavors and traditional techniques to create corn masa starters, Mexico City-style tacos, and other cantina favorites, all complemented by a selection of over 200 agave spirits. On Thursday through Saturday nights, guests can enjoy our late-night atmosphere featuring live DJs and specially-priced tacos and tequila.

Position Overview: The Mixologist is essential in fostering a welcoming and enjoyable environment by delivering outstanding beverage service. This role encompasses more than just mixing and serving drinks; it requires strong interpersonal skills and a comprehensive understanding of mixology to excel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Warmly welcome guests and engage in professional, friendly conversations to enhance their experience.
• Offer personalized recommendations and pairings based on guests' preferences and menu selections.
• Address any guest concerns or issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
• Accurately and efficiently enter food and beverage orders into the point-of-sale system.
• Prepare and serve a diverse range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Adhere to established recipes and standard operating procedures to maintain consistent drink quality.
• Create signature cocktails and stay updated on current mixology trends.
• Manage guest checks accurately, ensuring proper pricing and itemization.
• Process payments efficiently, handling both cash and electronic transactions.
• Maintain a well-organized and stocked bar, focusing on freshness and cleanliness.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning glassware, utensils, and bar equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to management.
• Collaborate with fellow bar staff, kitchen staff, and servers to ensure smooth operations.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues to coordinate drink orders and maintain a cohesive work environment.
• Assist in training new staff members as necessary.
• Comply with local alcohol regulations, ensuring responsible service and adherence to licensing requirements.
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption responsibly and uphold legal drinking age regulations.
• Follow the establishment's policies and procedures, including hygiene and safety standards.

• At least 1 year of experience as a bartender is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and standard bar practices.
• Familiarity with POS systems and proper cash/credit handling.
• Understanding of food safety and health regulations.
• Customer-focused with excellent service skills.
• Physical stamina and capability to lift heavy items.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
