Nurse Specialist for UPMC East Resource Unit

UPMC East in Monroeville, PA is seeking a skilled Professional Staff Nurse to support the Resource Unit. This part-time position will work 2, 12-hour shifts per week, with some weekends and holidays required.
About the RoleThis role requires a minimum of 2 years of prior nursing experience. Nurses on the Resource Unit will cover various areas of the hospital, including Med/Surg, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Stepdown, CDU, and ED hold areas.

We offer a competitive salary of $83,000 - $100,000 per year, based on experience.

The Professional Staff Nurse will be responsible for:
- Actively engaging in clinical development and/or RN residency program for new hires.
- Requesting opportunities to learn safe, accountable, and autonomous practice from more experienced nurses.
- Seeking, accepting, and utilizing performance feedback from peers, preceptors, and unit/department Leaders as a learning opportunity and to improve practice.
- Demonstrating enthusiasm for continuous learning and identifying and creating a plan for the continuation of learning and development.
- Identifying patient and family needs for education and providing basic education to support the episode of care.
- Seeking professional development and involvement through membership in a professional nursing organization and/or reading professional literature regularly.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
- Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment and handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
- Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
- Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in the application of the nursing process.
- Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
You must have:
- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- UPMC-approved national certification is preferred.
- NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire.
- CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Act 33, 34, and 73 with renewal.
