UPMC East in Monroeville, PA is seeking a skilled Professional Staff Nurse to support the Resource Unit. This part-time position will work 2, 12-hour shifts per week, with some weekends and holidays required.

About the Role

This role requires a minimum of 2 years of prior nursing experience. Nurses on the Resource Unit will cover various areas of the hospital, including Med/Surg, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Stepdown, CDU, and ED hold areas.

We offer a competitive salary of $83,000 - $100,000 per year, based on experience.

Responsibilities

The Professional Staff Nurse will be responsible for:

  1. Actively engaging in clinical development and/or RN residency program for new hires.
  2. Requesting opportunities to learn safe, accountable, and autonomous practice from more experienced nurses.
  3. Seeking, accepting, and utilizing performance feedback from peers, preceptors, and unit/department Leaders as a learning opportunity and to improve practice.
  4. Demonstrating enthusiasm for continuous learning and identifying and creating a plan for the continuation of learning and development.
  5. Identifying patient and family needs for education and providing basic education to support the episode of care.
  6. Seeking professional development and involvement through membership in a professional nursing organization and/or reading professional literature regularly.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment and handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
  • Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in the application of the nursing process.
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

You must have:

  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • UPMC-approved national certification is preferred.
  • NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire.
  • CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Act 33, 34, and 73 with renewal.
