Key Responsibilities- Supervision and Leadership: Assist in the overall supervision of the laboratory department, including daily operations, quality assurance, and process improvement.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Review, evaluate, and coordinate quality assurance and quality control activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs for staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to staff, ensuring they have the necessary expertise to operate laboratory instruments and perform complex procedures.
- Procedure Development and Maintenance: Develop, maintain, and update procedure manuals, workflows, and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Clinical Education: Coordinate clinical education programs for medical laboratory science students, residents, fellows, and medical students, ensuring they receive high-quality education and training.
- Education: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with 16 semester hours in biology and 16 semester hours in chemistry.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years direct technical experience in an accredited, licensed laboratory, with at least 2 years of experience in the laboratory discipline being applied for.
- Certification: Must be certified per policy, with specialty certification in the appropriate discipline preferred.
This role requires working in a clinical laboratory environment, with exposure to hazardous reagents and infectious materials. The physical demands of this role include considerable walking or standing for long periods of time.
