Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Teller to join our team at The University of Maryland Global Campus. As a Teller, you will be responsible for performing various routine technical accounting and auditing work, requiring the application of accounting theory and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process student payments and departmental deposits with great attention to detail, ensuring accurate and prompt posting to student accounts.
  • Examine various accounting documents to verify the accuracy of computations, updating and reconciling records using databases for assigned areas.
  • Ensure transactions are conducted in accordance with applicable authority, policies, and procedures consistent with acceptable accounting standards.
  • Provide 2nd level customer service by reviewing and analyzing student inquiries, including proactive outreach, troubleshooting issues, and advising students regarding their accounts via email and phone.
  • Provide world-class customer service to students by meeting guidelines established by the Quality Assurance Team, responding to inquiries in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental standards for quality assurance.
  • Articulate and promote teamwork, ensuring that work meets established standards of quantity or quality, and assists with the coordination of unit work priorities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four years of accounting clerical experience, including customer service experience and/or cash handling and payment processing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping principles, mathematical methods and techniques, and accounting standards.
  • Ability to exercise attention to detail in the area of monetary transactions, understand and explain items within an accounting system, and communicate effectively.
