Job Title: Activities Director

Discovery Village at the West End - IL is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Activities Director to lead our lifestyle programs and engage our residents in a variety of activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct lifestyle programs that cater to the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents.
  • Develop and implement programs for holidays and special events that promote community engagement and socialization.
  • Recruit and develop resources to support resident services, including volunteers, service groups, and external organizations.
  • Advise and motivate residents on individual and group activities based on their interests and opportunities for growth.
  • Prepare and organize a calendar of events, submit it for approval, and distribute it to residents and staff.
  • Develop and print the community newsletter to keep residents informed about upcoming events and activities.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the lifestyle program, ensuring it aligns with the community's mission and values.
  • Coordinate the community library and maintain a database of resident quality assurance assessments, participation, and satisfaction.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare preliminary drafts of the Celebrations Operating Budget.
  • Organize and supervise a volunteer staff, ensuring they are equipped to support resident services.
  • Address resident groups and other groups on topics of common interest.
  • Maintain competence in Federal, State, and Local regulations, requirements for skilled nursing, assisted living, and/or independent living as applicable, ensuring compliance.
  • Develop, facilitate, and analyze resident surveys to determine ongoing activities that meet resident interests.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate mixed group activities that promote socialization and community engagement.
  • Develop and facilitate daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms, and other resident and team member communication centers.
  • Maintain a robust public relations program in support of activities programming and community relations.
  • Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, or Adult Education.
  • Three to five years of related experience.
  • Two years of supervisory/management experience.
