Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at All Medical Personnel. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in the preparation and examination of tissue samples for diagnostic purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tissue Processing: Embeds, cuts, and stains tissue samples in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
- Gross Description: Performs accurate gross description on tissue samples, providing detailed information for diagnostic purposes.
- Quality Control: Maintains accurate records and performs quality control procedures established for each method, ensuring compliance with laboratory standards.
- Instrument Operation: Operates all instruments and equipment according to accepted written procedures, recognizing and identifying any issues or problems.
- Turnaround Time and Productivity: Meets acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section, ensuring timely delivery of results.
- Error Detection and Resolution: Recognizes testing errors or discrepancies and notifies appropriate personnel, assisting in problem resolution.
- Record Keeping: Records, transcribes, and maintains records of patient test results according to protocol, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Result Review: Reviews accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System, ensuring high-quality results.
- Testing and Turnaround Time: Completes routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines, ensuring timely delivery of results.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science.
- Training and Certification: Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours) and state licensure, where applicable (CA, FL, NY require licensing).
- CLIA Personnel Standard Criteria: Meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.
- Experience and Skills: Experience with IHC, specialty staining, and skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques.
- Preferred Skills: ASCP certification and grossing experience.
