Our SALT practice comprises over 40 professionals nationwide, delivering a comprehensive range of services, including Income & Franchise tax, Sales & Use tax, Real & Personal Property tax, Unclaimed Property, and Voluntary Disclosure & Remediation tailored to industry needs. As a member of this skilled team, you will assist clients in leveraging strategic insights and planning methodologies that ensure compliance with state and local tax regulations, minimize expenses, and improve cash flow.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a trusted advisor to middle-market and Fortune 500 clients by delivering strategic state and local tax consulting services that reduce their tax liabilities, ensure compliance, and add value across the spectrum of state and local taxes. This encompasses:
- Managing multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews that evaluate income, franchise, sales and use, payroll, and ad valorem taxes, among others, to identify optimal filing strategies, exemptions, credits, incentives, and corporate structures that can alleviate the client's tax burden.
- Conducting research on state tax matters, including nexus determinations, taxability assessments, and quantification of potential liabilities.
- Advising clients on state and local tax disputes, including research, drafting client communications, preparing ruling requests, and providing guidance in defending against state audits.
- Planning and executing tax projects that require a broad scope of expertise, including due diligence and voluntary disclosure initiatives.
- Drafting technical memoranda on state and local tax issues for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.
- Maintaining active communication with clients, making recommendations for business and process enhancements, managing expectations, and maximizing value.
- Assisting in managing client engagement staffing, billing/collections, and ensuring client profitability targets are achieved.
- Utilizing your entrepreneurial skills to cultivate and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally with clients and the community.
- Investing in your professional growth through individual development and participation in firm-wide learning and development initiatives.
- Supporting the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, aiding associates in reaching their professional objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a Master's or advanced degree is preferred.
- CPA, CMI, or JD/LLM certification is required.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in state and local tax, with professional services firm experience preferred.
- At least five (5) years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and counseling associates, is desired.
- Proven ability to lead and supervise others, deliver exceptional client service, demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning to stay current with applicable strategies, and exhibit a sense of urgency and dedication to quality and timely project completion.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship is highly preferred.

For California, Colorado, New York, and Washington: The compensation range for this role is $119,070 to $252,370. Actual compensation is influenced by various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
