Certified Technical Experts Incorporated is seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to support our client in providing ophthalmology treatment to Retirement Home residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ocular anatomy, visual physiology, and optics, as well as experience with ophthalmic instruments and testing equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide ophthalmology treatment on a scheduled and emergency basis, based on client need
- Act as an escort to patients to eye appointments as necessary
- Use facility software system to accomplish appointing and scheduling functions, review the appointment schedule, and prepare examination and treatment rooms
- Examine records and forms and prepare patients for current exams and treatments
- Perform basic and routine vision screening tests, including visual acuity, color vision, tonometry, visual fields, pupil exams, and other technical tests required by the ophthalmologist
- Administer eye medications
- Perform measurements for glasses fitting, fill orders, and dispense eyewear
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments
- Assist physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures, if necessary
- Order and maintain ophthalmologic medications, supplies, and equipment for use by the physician
- Use client-provided electronic medical record software system to document patient encounters and progress notes
- High school diploma or equivalent, and 2 years of related experience
- Completion of Ophthalmic Technician training and certification program
- Knowledge of ocular anatomy, visual physiology, and optics
- Experience with the use and maintenance of ophthalmic instruments and testing equipment
- Knowledgeable of ophthalmic and medical regulations, as well as medical and optometric technology
- Familiar with ocular referrals and emergency medical treatment and medical ethics
- Experience with medical administration, such as ophthalmic injectable medications and other ophthalmic medications
- Must have experience with ophthalmic medications, anesthetic solutions, and ocular disorders
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the Optometry and Ophthalmology fields
