Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant - Cardiac Surgery Unit

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Cardiac Surgery Unit with a specific focus on the early mobilization of postoperative cardiac surgery patients.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, with a passion for promoting recovery through early mobilization techniques and personalized patient support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist postoperative cardiac patients with early mobilization strategies, including but not limited to: bedside exercises, sitting up, standing, and walking, as directed by the RN and healthcare team.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, pain levels, and overall patient comfort. Report any changes or concerns to the RN immediately.
  • Aid patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Educate patients and their families about the importance of early mobilization and provide guidance on exercises and activities.
  • Accurately document patient progress, responses to mobilization efforts, and any other relevant information in the patient's medical record.
  • Work closely with the healthcare team, including RNs, physical therapists, and physicians, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
  • Assist in emergency situations as needed, providing support and following established protocols.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a CNA training program required.
  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Kentucky.
  • Previous experience as CNA is preferred. Experience with early mobilization techniques is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Knowledge of cardiac conditions and postoperative care is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, assisting with patient transfers, and standing for extended periods. Must be able to safely assist patients with mobility.
