This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating haul trucks loaded with rock within the quarry. The Off-Highway Haul Truck Driver will perform various maintenance duties in the quarry, safely and efficiently operate the haul trucks, perform daily pre-shift inspections, and perform minor maintenance and repairs on the haul truck.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Haul Trucks: Operate a haul truck within the company guidelines and safety standards.
- Participate in Safety Inspections: Participate in safety inspections, plant safety program, and follows company and MSHA safety rules and regulations.
- Aide in Loader Production: Aides in loader production by breaking down surge piles and maintains product pile as needed.
- Perform Pre-Shift Inspections: Performs pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and reports needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance: Performs preventative maintenance, services mobile equipment, and is responsible for good housekeeping of equipment.
- Operate Other Equipment: Operates other equipment such as pit and yard loaders in a safe manner as needed.
- Aide in Training: Aides in the training of co-workers as needed.
- Perform Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Safety Conscious: Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated.
- Active Role in Safety Initiatives: Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives.
- Willingness to Work Overtime: Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Willingness to Cross-Train: Willing to cross-train in different areas of production.
- High School Diploma: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position.
- Experience in Maintenance and Operation: Experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment and/or equipment used processing plants.
- Experience as a Haul Truck Driver: Six (6) months experience as a haul truck driver or other related experience preferred.
- Teamwork: Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team.
- Communication Skills: Possess effective coordination and communication skills.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills.
- Multi-Tasking: Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability: Able to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
- Adherence to Safety Guidelines: Able to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations.
- Priority on Safety: Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production.
