Laboratory Scientist I

Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist I is responsible for the preparation of specimens for examination and the execution of various clinical laboratory tests, including waived, moderate, and high complexity procedures. All activities must adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comply with regulations set forth by FACT, AABB, ACHI, CAP, FDA, and the Joint Commission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze specimens in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct clinical laboratory procedures while ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
- Provide guidance and support to students and staff in laboratory practices.
- Operate under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, adhering to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988, CFR Section a).
Work Schedule:
This position requires availability for the PM shift from 4 PM to 12:30 AM, including rotating weekends and mandatory holiday shifts.
Interview Process:
Interviews will be conducted onsite, with the possibility of an initial phone screening at the manager's discretion.
Essential Qualifications:
- A valid California CLS license is mandatory.
- A minimum of one year of experience in Clinical Microbiology is required, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Candidates must possess at least one year of hands-on experience in a microbiology department. Experience in molecular biology will not be accepted as a substitute.
- Proficiency in interpreting Gram Stains, particularly Positive Blood Cultures, AFB Stains, KOH Stains, Fungal Stains, Parasitology Stains, and conducting Molecular Clinical PCR testing is essential.
