Job Summary

The Perioperative Performance Improvement Coordinator-RN is a key member of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County team, responsible for ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction in the perioperative setting. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care to patients in the perioperative setting, demonstrating superior problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Function as a clinical expert, consultant, and resource to nursing unit staff to facilitate consistent quality patient care.
  • Coordinate unit-level quality management and performance improvement activities, including the development and implementation of PI projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate care and practice for self and others, collecting data to ensure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Coordinate assignment, unit staffing, and scheduling based on established standards, ensuring optimal utilization of resources to meet patient needs.
  • Facilitate efficient patient throughput, including appropriate bed placement based on diagnosis, acuity, and staffing requirements.
  • Ensure discharge planning occurs in collaboration with case management and area management.
  • Function as a clinical coach, serving as a resource for other clinical coaches and area preceptors, and participating in the planning and development of staff.
  • Support consistent regulatory readiness for the unit/area via rounding, counseling/coaching, and monitoring.
  • Function as a charge nurse and shift coordinator, able to problem-solve unit and area-level operations issues, collaborating with management as defined.
  • Participate in the evaluation of staff by providing input, supporting development, and coaching and counseling of staff.
Requirements
  • Current Indiana License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited college or university.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Additional certifications and specialty skills related to designated area of practice.
  • Minimum of three to five years of clinical nursing experience as a registered nurse.
  • BSN preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced skills in clinical nursing practice, use of equipment/instruments relevant to unit/area care, according to policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Effective interpersonal communication and team skills, including listening, interviewing techniques with patients, families, and staff.
  • Assessment, reassessment, and monitoring of patients.
  • Concise, accurate, legible documentation.
  • Problem-solving techniques, critical thinking skills, decision-making.
