Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend construction project meetings as needed.
  • Drive company vehicle to and from client projects.
  • Understand and apply DOT Standard Specifications, Standard Drawings, special provisions, and project contracts.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints from residents engineers.
  • Use various tools and equipment for construction projects.
  • Obtain accurate measurements and report progress information on Inspector's Daily Reports.
  • Set up pay records and collect material certifications from contractors.
  • Complete pay applications and coordinate with contractors and DOT.
  • Perform on-site testing as needed.
  • Check materials for conformance with contract requirements.
  • Identify potential problems and report to project engineers and supervisors.
  • Make field decisions and take independent action.
  • Act as a construction specialist and head inspector on projects.
  • Perform quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested by management.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Certification in DOT classes and ability to maintain certifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic math skills to compute quantities and costs.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, blueprints, and maps.
  • Interpret and implement company safety policies.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a level.
  • Understanding of cut and fills, elevations, and construction surveying procedures.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Actively engage multiple perspectives and encourage reciprocal learning.
  • Advocate for full inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in outdoor environment 95% of the time.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Travel via automobile on a daily basis.
