Job Title: Healthcare Professional - WIC Certification

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Healthcare Professional to join our team as a WIC Certification Specialist. As a key member of our Public Health team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our community.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing applications and certifying applicants for WIC eligibility, providing counseling, education, and assessment for infants, children, and pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women clients. You will work closely with our community to increase public awareness of proper nutrition and provide information, counseling, and medical case management according to specific program and physician guidelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct client care for Public Health District clients, including interviewing and assessing nutritional status to determine client's WIC eligibility and nutrition care plan.
  • Perform anthropometric and biochemical measurements, provide nutrition education and outreach programs, and work with community to increase public awareness of proper nutrition.
  • Provide information, counseling, and medical case management according to specific program and physician guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • WIC Certification Training is required within one year of hire if the degree held is not directly related to nutrition.
  • Technical certifications in public health are preferred and may be required.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's license.
