We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team at UnityPoint Health.
Responsibilities:- Collect and process laboratory specimens from patients.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures, including blood analysis, urinalysis, and microbiological tests, following standard protocols.
- Prepare specimens for testing and ensure proper labeling, storage, and transport to appropriate testing facilities.
- Maintain accurate records of lab tests and results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring that all instruments are properly calibrated and functioning.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality assurance guidelines to maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Communicate test results to healthcare providers in a timely manner and assist in interpreting results when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all laboratory regulatory requirements, including CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with laboratory techniques and practices.
- Previous experience working in a clinical lab setting or hospital lab setting.
- Previous phlebotomy experience or certification.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety standards, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and technology, including electronic medical records (EMR).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare providers and patients.
