Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team at UnityPoint Health.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens from patients.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures, including blood analysis, urinalysis, and microbiological tests, following standard protocols.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and ensure proper labeling, storage, and transport to appropriate testing facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of lab tests and results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring that all instruments are properly calibrated and functioning.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality assurance guidelines to maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
  • Communicate test results to healthcare providers in a timely manner and assist in interpreting results when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory regulatory requirements, including CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with laboratory techniques and practices.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a clinical lab setting or hospital lab setting.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience or certification.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety standards, and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and technology, including electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare providers and patients.
