Position Summary
The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing, assembling, and cooking a variety of meals for residents, staff, and visitors, ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines and menu specifications. This role emphasizes maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and serving food that meets established quality standards.
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in cooking and serving areas.
- Labeling and storing food items properly.
- Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Documenting food safety measures and compliance with HACCP guidelines.
- Collaborating effectively with team members and internal customers.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Candidates should possess the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions, along with basic math skills. A minimum of six months of relevant experience is preferred, although on-the-job training will be provided.
Depending on the hiring location, Serv Safe certification may be required within a specified timeframe. Additional certifications may also be necessary. Candidates must fulfill annual continuing education requirements, including departmental meetings and safety training.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required based on location. A valid driver's license may also be necessary depending on job requirements.
