Overview

As a key member of our Silicon Technologies team, you will play a pivotal role in the design and validation of cutting-edge memory systems for our advanced processor and system-on-chip (SoC) products. Your expertise will ensure that Apple’s devices maintain their reputation for high performance and energy efficiency. In this position, you will focus on the integration of DRAM technologies with SoC architectures, contributing to the seamless functionality of our products.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with design, verification, and integration teams to define comprehensive memory controller and PHY specifications that encompass DRAM corner cases.
- Partner with Architecture, MCU, DDRPHY, and DRAM suppliers to enhance Apple's main memory capabilities.
- Validate that DRAM simulations align with Apple's stringent performance criteria.
- Ensure that both internal and external DRAM silicon and package testing requirements are fulfilled.
- Troubleshoot RMA materials exhibiting DRAM-related issues.
- Work closely with DRAM suppliers to optimize performance and power efficiency in Apple systems.
- Lead the development of roadmaps and specifications for memory vendors targeting next-generation technology nodes.

Essential Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in DRAM development is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • In-depth knowledge of DRAM cell architectures.
  • Expertise in DRAM memory organization and peripheral design aimed at reducing power consumption.
  • Proficient in DRAM simulation methodologies.
  • Experience in memory interface verification, with a solid understanding of DDR-PHY and Memory Controller interactions.
  • Familiarity with LPDDR IO (DDR/DDR2/DDR3/DDR4/DDR5) characterization and qualification processes.
  • Understanding of memory testing patterns and DRAM reliability principles.
  • Knowledge of innovative packaging technologies (e.g., POP, TSV) and their impact on DRAM signal and power integrity.
  • Previous experience in DRAM device failure analysis.
  • Strong debugging skills in both hardware and software contexts.
  • Experience collaborating with major DRAM suppliers.
  • Solid foundation in computer architecture principles.
  • Programming skills in C/C++.
Education & Experience

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, accompanied by at least 10 years of pertinent industry experience in silicon validation or a related discipline.

Compensation & Benefits
  • At Apple, base salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a defined range. This allows for growth and advancement as you develop in your role. The base salary range for this position is between $165,500 and $293,800, with actual compensation dependent on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in our discretionary employee stock programs. Employees may be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through our Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
