We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a Clinical Nurse II, you will provide patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Infusion Center.
Key Responsibilities- Provide patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Infusion Center.
- Incorporate psycho-motor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Assist in patient research accrual by varied projects and reviewing patient schedules against available protocols.
- Act as a role model to students and Clinical Nurses new to the unit.
- Function as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
- One year of Oncology experience or one year of MedSurg experience and completion of OCN Cancer Basics class.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience.
- Knowledge and practice of body mechanics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques.
- Current chemotherapy/biotherapy card required within 3 months of hire.
- Current California RN license.
- Current BLS certification.
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues, physicians, and others as part of a care team.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Understanding of JCAHO requirements.
- Oncology Certification.
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
