Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at the Michigan Institute of Urology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical staff in a fast-paced urology clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare procedure rooms for local procedures by setting up instrumentation, checking case supplies, and opening sterile instruments/supplies in an aseptic technique.
  • Assist physicians during local procedures, utilizing aseptic technique and demonstrating knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective equipment.
  • Accurately document on procedure-specific memos and use and document on the Electronic Health Record.
  • Mix medication on order of the physician, demonstrating knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective equipment.
  • Perform injections/installations on order of the physician, accurately drawing and processing blood specimens, and completing related paperwork.
  • Document in and maintain specimen logs, medication logs, MA lab logs, sterilization logs, and other relevant records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and physicians/providers, documenting patient medical concerns in the medical record.
  • Insert/remove urinary catheters, decontaminate and process procedure instrumentation, and operate the autoclave, including cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of records.
  • Assist in room clean-up, removing soiled instrumentation, supplies, and trash from the procedure room, and perform general cleaning duties, including wiping down furniture/equipment, mopping floors, and emptying trash containers.
  • Clean lab areas, including wiping down equipment and surfaces, and restock supply cupboards, labs, and rooms as needed.
  • Transport laboratory specimens, x-ray films, instruments, and/or supplies as needed/requested, and collaborate with orientation of new personnel in the office as requested.
  • Report to the supervisor when the office schedule is finished to assist office personnel in other areas, and maintain confidentiality of patient records.
  • Identify self-deficits and update knowledge and skills required to perform responsibilities, demonstrating a commitment to the vision, mission, and goals of the Michigan Institute of Urology through application of Continuous Quality Improvement.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or GED; Medical Assistant certificate required.
  • 1 year of medical assistant office experience demonstrating competency is preferred.
  • None.
  • Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Demonstrates organization, self-motivation, good communication and interpersonal skills, and basic computer knowledge and skills.
