General Overview

The Retail Floor Leader will play a crucial role in overseeing store operations and will take on primary responsibilities during the absence of the General Manager and/or Assistant Managers. This position will also involve guiding and directing staff to meet the company's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement
  • Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively.
  • Proactively assist customers in resolving issues.
  • Welcome customers as they enter and thank them upon their departure.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor with both customers and team members.
  • Ensure all communications are handled promptly and courteously.
  • Address customer complaints effectively, keeping the company's best interests in mind.
  • Possess comprehensive product knowledge and familiarity with store layout.
Store Management
  • Foster a positive, professional, and safe work environment for all team members.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the store.
  • Manage store opening and closing procedures.
  • Support the implementation of corporate programs.
  • Assist in achieving successful Loss Prevention, Safety, and Internal Audits.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Assistant Managers on store operations.
  • Communicate operational or managerial concerns to the General Manager promptly.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and stock areas.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of price changes and label updates.
  • Support cashiering functions, including training and audits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Inventory Management & Merchandising
  • Ensure safe and efficient forklift operations and merchandise receiving.
  • Assist in the thorough checking in and stocking of merchandise.
  • Help maintain appropriate back stock levels.
  • Ensure timely completion of cycle counts and inventory reports.
  • Assist with merchandise resets throughout the store.
  • Ensure all signage is current and accurate.
  • Present a clean and organized sales floor, including promotional displays.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Oversee all store operations in the absence of senior management.
  • Lead by example and remain approachable to all associates and customers.
  • Assist in the training and development of team members.
  • Participate in team meetings and discussions.
  • Communicate merchandising and sales ideas to management for consideration.
  • Work with management to prepare for career advancement opportunities.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in retail management is preferred. Hardware experience is a plus.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25lbs), and climb as needed.
