Job Summary

At SPI - Specialty Products & Insulation, we are seeking an experienced Industrial Designer to join our team. As an Industrial Designer, you will be responsible for gathering drawings and specifications, calculating material and equipment requirements, and programming machines to set up production methods for fabrication operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Design: Create detailed manual drawings for shop production, taking into account aesthetic and functional requirements.
  • Measurement and Quality Control: Take precise measurements on-site of valves, piping, elbows, traps, and mechanical equipment to ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
  • Product Development: Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality, while documenting production methods and creating instructions manuals.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with administration on job progress, ensuring seamless collaboration with the Fabrication department.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: Associated degree and professional certifications are preferred, but not required.
  • Experience and Skills: Experience with insulation fabrication is a plus, but not required. Proficient math, computer, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Language Skills: MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK SPANISH.
Work Environment

Industrial environment, including refinery, chemical plant, and warehouse/fabrication settings. Limited office operations.

Physical Demands
  • High level of walking, standing, and/or climbing.
  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Work outside/inside around machinery with moving parts and vehicles.
  • Exposure to all seasons of weather, as well as slippery and uneven surfaces.
Travel

Work-sites in state, with daily local travel to on-site customers.
