Job Overview

Elkan Energy Services, LLC is a prominent provider of freshwater transmission and distribution solutions for the energy sector in western North Dakota. We are currently in search of a skilled mechanic proficient in both diesel and gas engine repair to enhance our dynamic water supply operations.

Key Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with stability
  • Capable of lifting, moving, and carrying loads up to 50 pounds, with the ability to push and pull weights up to 100 pounds
  • Occasional crawling and climbing around equipment, stairs, and vertical ladders
  • Vision capabilities including close, distant, and color vision, along with the ability to adjust focus
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Willingness to relocate

Preferred Skills

  • 5 years of mechanical experience
  • Motor Vehicle Inspection License
  • CDL Class A License
  • DOT Inspection Certification
  • Familiarity with computers and diagnostic tools
  • Experience in water transfer operations

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining pickup trucks, semi-trucks, trailers, and associated equipment
  • Assessing vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic evaluations
  • Diagnosing and repairing a variety of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Exhibiting advanced diagnostic skills and knowledge of gas and diesel engines, along with repair capabilities on diverse equipment and vehicles including skid steers, telehandlers, forklifts, and heavy machinery
  • Ensuring equipment availability by adhering to preventive maintenance schedules
  • Executing repairs with minimal supervision on wheel seals, suspensions, brakes, electrical systems, air and cooling systems, and oil changes
  • Repairing heavy machinery such as engines, transmissions, clutches, and brakes
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace daily
  • Continuously enhancing mechanical technology knowledge
  • Documenting job time and repairs accurately in the in-house business system
  • Tagging and documenting all warranty items correctly
  • Performing additional duties as assigned to support project and company success
  • Complying with all rules, regulations, and company policies
  • Understanding DOT regulations and out-of-service criteria
  • Knowledge and experience in pump and heater repair and maintenance
  • Familiarity with drive trains, hydraulics, steering, and suspension systems
  • Proficiency with computer diagnostic equipment is preferred
  • Passing pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Expected to mentor and transfer knowledge to others
  • Exhibiting good character, a positive attitude, and teamwork skills
  • Additional duties as assigned
