The Senior Pharmacist in Mail Operations plays a crucial role in ensuring the precise and prompt distribution of prescribed medications to patients. This position involves handling moderately complex to complex tasks where thorough analysis of situations or data is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and validate prescriptions for accuracy, compliance with standards, and correct dosing or dosage form, making necessary adjustments to documentation and labeling.
  • Optimize workflow to enhance efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of standards, policies, and procedures aimed at delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Supervise and guide support staff, including pharmacy technicians.

Essential Duties:

  • Confirm Rx labels, drug names, strengths, dosage forms, and quantities against dispensed medications.
  • At the reject and edit workstation, investigate and confirm correct dosage directions, medications, and dosage forms, making edits as necessary and documenting changes.
  • Maintain control and care of drug supplies and equipment, adhering to standard operating procedures for out-of-stock notifications.
  • Monitor quality assurance metrics to ensure departmental objectives and regulatory compliance are met.
  • In a manual pharmacist setting, provide clinical insights to ensure rational drug therapy, including verifying dosages and attaching appropriate warning labels.
  • Approve all compounded dispenses and maintain logs for prepack label checks prior to dispensing.
  • Assist in the pharmacy's end-of-day closing processes and verify adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Stay proficient in dispensing and checking systems, achieving acceptable verification rates and overall efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Active Pharmacist license in New York.
  • Ability to engage in Federal prescription programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to patient care and service excellence.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
  • Capable of planning and achieving goals based on experience and judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintain composure in high-pressure situations and provide leadership as needed.
  • Recognize and address the needs of others to foster constructive working relationships.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Compliance with ongoing continuing education requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred.

Work Schedule:

35 hours per week.

Compensation:

The compensation range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time employment. The pay range may vary based on geographic location and individual qualifications, with a range of $122,700 - $168,900 per year. This position is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on performance.
