Overview

The Camera Algorithms team at Apple is on the lookout for enthusiastic and self-motivated engineers specializing in computer vision and computational photography. This role involves both detailed innovation and collaboration with diverse teams to introduce groundbreaking imaging technologies into Apple products. Our team has developed essential algorithms for the Apple camera imaging pipeline, including advanced features like DeepFusion, Photonic Engine, SmartHDR, and Panorama. In this position, you will explore and create cutting-edge machine learning methodologies for image restoration and fusion applications, contributing to the success of the world’s most popular camera.

Role Responsibilities

As a machine learning engineer within our team, your contributions will include algorithm design and execution. You will be responsible for developing deep learning models and working alongside cross-functional teams, including camera hardware, firmware, GPU, and image quality experts, to transform your innovative concepts into products. We are seeking a creative and inquisitive engineer who can apply their expertise in classical computer vision and computational photography to build and implement deep learning models that will shape the future of Apple’s camera imaging pipeline.

Essential Qualifications
  • Proven experience in crafting machine learning algorithms for computational photography, computer vision, and image processing challenges.
  • In-depth understanding of camera processing pipelines, classical computer vision, and computational photography methodologies.
  • Proficient coding abilities in Python and/or C/C++.
  • GPU programming experience is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A passion for solving complex challenges with creativity and curiosity.
Educational Background

MS/PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.

Compensation & Benefits
  • At Apple, the base salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This allows for growth and advancement as you develop in your role. The salary range for this position is between $143,100 and $264,200, with your specific salary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Employees may be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Additional benefits include comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, a variety of discounted products and services, and reimbursement for educational expenses related to career advancement at Apple.
