Occupational Educational Lab Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fashion Technology Lab Assistant to join our team at El Paso Community College Cafe. As a key member of our instructional support staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional support to students, instructors, and laboratory personnel in the classroom and lab setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students with course and laboratory assignments, providing individualized support and guidance as needed.
- Work with students to demonstrate and review material covered in classroom lectures, procedures, and equipment usage.
- Review and provide feedback on student work assignments, suggesting additional resources for study and improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials, including setting up lab equipment and supplies for laboratory assignments.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and the lab is kept clean and organized.
- Perform routine equipment repairs and maintenance, as well as develop and program computer tutorials.
- Facilitate computer testing, collect exams, and maintain grade data on students.
- Monitor student and staff activities to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Provide orientation to faculty, staff, and students on the use of laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Develop and maintain an inventory system for instructional materials and equipment, including computer hardware and software.
- Coordinate the distribution and retrieval of classroom resources in a self-paced learning environment.
- Maintain usage records and monitor material returned.
- Issue tools, materials, and equipment to students and instructors, and coordinate distribution and retrieval of classroom and lab resources.
- Perform administrative support duties, including ordering supplies, procuring quotes for equipment requests, and following up on orders.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment and troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment.
- Experience assisting individuals in a lab setting and conducting orientations.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience compiling data, generating reports, and developing and maintaining inventory records.
- Experience working with the current Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
This is a security-sensitive position, and the successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
