The Respiratory Therapist PRN is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care. As a key player in our patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist PRN performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways, and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response, and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
- Respond to emergent patient situations, and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
- Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
