Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Vice President of Development to join our team at Loyola University New Orleans. This key leadership role will be responsible for planning, directing, and executing all components of private source major gift fundraising, including immediate-use, capital, and endowed funds, both restricted and unrestricted, for the university.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of approximately 75 major gift donors and submit a minimum of 20 formal gift proposals annually that yield numerous gifts of $25,000 to upwards of $3,000,000.
  • Secure gifts of $25,000 or greater through direct cultivation and solicitation of alumni, other individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations.
  • Serve as a key volunteer liaison and logistical leader in the development and execution of comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of University Advancement to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
  • Manage a team of development and gift & estate planning officers and provide guidance and training to college or campus staff members to improve their skills in advancement.
  • Recruit and support fundraising volunteers from among Loyola friends and alumni.
  • Support the work of alumni programs through attendance at alumni events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years of effective experience in major gift fundraising, including solicitation of individual gifts of $25,000 or greater, in a non-profit environment.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in management and team leadership.
  • Progressive development experience in higher education or a related field, including strong knowledge of University structure, policies, and practices.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate many details which occur simultaneously for various programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
  • Experience with software related to nonprofit management (Blackbaud or other donor database products).
  • A thorough understanding and appreciation of Jesuit education as well as the programs offered and sponsored by Loyola University New Orleans.
