Role of the Patient Care Technician
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in caring for patients with end-stage renal disease, assisting clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process to ensure the delivery of prescribed therapies. Our PCTs are essential members of the interdisciplinary team, committed to providing safe care and achieving the highest quality outcomes for every patient.

Work Schedule: Full-time, consisting of three 13.33-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM; Sundays off; no overnight shifts.

Compensation: Competitive pay ranging from $19.50 to $26.21 per hour, based on healthcare experience; prior experience is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage actively in infection control, risk management, and patient education initiatives
  • Assist new patients in navigating a comprehensive 120-day education plan
  • Accurately obtain and document patient vital signs and machine readings during treatments
  • Operate under the supervision of a registered nurse
  • Prepare and dismantle the dialysis blood system for treatment
  • Insert and remove access needles for patients
  • Monitor patients throughout the dialysis process, documenting any changes and alerting the charge nurse to concerns
  • Calculate patient weight loss to achieve target dry weight
  • Prioritize patient care needs and organize workload effectively
  • Maintain a professional working relationship while respecting patient privacy and rights
  • Oversee and manage inventory
  • Conduct laboratory work as required
