Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pteridophyte Curator and Conservation Ecologist to join our team at the Field Museum. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust research and conservation program, curating and managing the Museum's pteridophyte and lycopod collection, and leading collaborative surveys of remote areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a research and conservation program focused on pteridophytes and lycopods
  • Curate and manage the Museum's pteridophyte and lycopod collection, including digitization and online resources
  • Lead collaborative surveys of remote areas to collect and study pteridophyte and lycopod specimens
  • Provide social and biological information to decision-makers to inform conservation efforts
  • Pursue opportunities in education, outreach, and professional service to promote the Museum's mission and goals
  • Contribute to the Museum's administration and public programs
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field, such as botany, ecology, or conservation biology
  • Experience in collections-based research and conservation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
