Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at Federal Signal. As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate and reliable cost information for manufactured and purchased parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain standard costs for manufactured and purchased parts, considering external and internal costs and material rates.
  • Perform annual standard cost reviews, updating material, labor, and overhead rates, and reviewing and analyzing cost variances.
  • Review and analyze standard variance reporting, investigate discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide internal departments with requested information by defining and developing ad-hoc reporting, analyzing data, and providing recommendations.
  • Actively participate in lean and/or cost reduction teams by providing appropriate reporting, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Review monthly cycle count reports, identify variances, and recommend corrective action.
  • Assist in the monthly closing activities by inputting journal entries, reconciling assigned accounts, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Assist the Controller with the development of the forecast and annual operating plan by completing assigned schedules, work papers, analysis, and providing feedback.
