The Role

We are seeking an Infrastructure Security Engineer to become our first dedicated expert in DevOps and Infrastructure. In this capacity, you will play a pivotal role in refining our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) while advocating for security and operational excellence. Your contributions will be essential in scaling our infrastructure significantly and addressing upcoming challenges, all while adhering to best practices in Software Engineering, DevOps, and Security. This position will involve designing our cloud infrastructure, enhancing observability, and managing data stacks. Additionally, you will oversee security and compliance measures, including engaging with customer procurement processes under the guidance of our CTO.

Currently, our technology stack is based on a Typescript / NodeJS environment, primarily utilizing a NestJS monorepo, with Prisma and PostgreSQL, managed through Heroku, and employing GitHub Actions for continuous integration, along with various monitoring and alerting tools. We are looking for someone to elevate the quality of our stack and guide us through critical transitions. An ideal candidate will have experience managing complex migrations to Kubernetes or similar platforms, while considering multiple geographical and security factors.

You're a good fit for this role if you've:
  • Worked as or performed core Software Engineering tasks
  • Participated in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure teams
  • Implemented security initiatives
  • Contributed to significant infrastructure upgrades or migrations in previous roles
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in infrastructure and DevOps
  • Identify deficiencies, design solutions, and implement various supporting tools and infrastructure components, including observability, logging, and release processes
  • Collaborate closely with our CTO and engineering team to define and uphold the best possible SDLC practices
  • Engage actively with the engineering team on projects as needed
  • Develop your security expertise to take full ownership of our monitoring, testing, and compliance processes
What you bring
  • 4+ years of experience in technology, Software Engineering, DevOps, or related fields
  • 2+ recent years in DevOps, DevSecOps, SRE, or similar roles
  • Extensive knowledge of various DevSecOps tools, including CI/CD systems, cloud management platforms, Kubernetes/Helm, and strong Git skills
  • Familiarity with information security standards and frameworks (e.g., SOC2)
  • Understanding of DevOps automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
  • Knowledge of API security
  • A strong opinion on best practices and a commitment to doing things correctly
  • A passion for continuous learning and skill development
