Cancer Center Nurse Clinician Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cancer Center Nurse Clinician to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our oncology team, you will provide expert clinical care and support to patients and their families, working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide oncology clinical expertise and utilize evidence-based research to achieve positive outcomes for patients, families, and significant others.
  • Apply evidence-based practice to make clinical decisions and establish standards of clinical specialty.
  • Provide patient care, applying oncology clinical skills and critical thinking to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain a communication system which ensures comprehensive and timely transmission of information to physicians, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Identify educational needs of patients, families, and significant others, and collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members to educate and develop programs and teaching materials.
  • Participate in the collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for selected patients and their families.
  • Support immediate revision of the plan of care as per the physician and collaborating APN and initiate immediate teaching/education with the oncology patient and their significant other(s) to support/meet desired outcomes.
  • Monitor documentation in the medical record to ensure patient outcomes are achieved and maintained based on established standards of care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource person to nursing staff, patients/families, and other multidisciplinary team members across the continuum to evaluate complex patients and identify appropriate desired outcomes and interventions.
  • Participate in the development of evidence-based guidelines/protocols that are utilized in planning patient care and monitoring achievement of patient outcomes.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement efforts to improve patient outcomes, assure appropriate utilization of resources, and increase patient satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree required, MSN preferred.
  • RN NJ License required.
  • 2 years of experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Certification in area of specialty preferred.
