Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced veterinary technician who thrives in a collaborative teamwork environment to work with two General Medicine Veterinarians. The General Medicine Technician position is a demanding role that involves assisting and preparing all aspects the veterinarian needs in the clinic, radiology, surgery, and other areas of the hospital as required. This position provides veterinary support in the examination room with outpatient and in-patient procedures, assists with case management of animals admitted to the hospital, communicates with clients, and sometimes refers veterinarians.
Responsibilities:- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including radiology, surgery, and other hospital areas.
- Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and treatment areas.
- Communicate with clients, provide education, and answer questions.
- Assist with case management, including data entry and record-keeping.
- Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and analyze fecal samples.
- Perform blood work, position and acquire radiographs, give injectable and oral medications, and be well-versed in critical care medicine.
- Understand fluid therapy and administer anesthesia and oxygen therapy.
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate (lift, carry, and move) up to 50 pounds.
- Work energetically for the entire shift, sometimes exceeding 12 hours per day.
- Veterinary Technician Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Able to work full-time hours
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Dependable, organized, and self-motivated
