Bankruptcy Specialist Job Overview

As a Bankruptcy Specialist at State Employees' Credit Union, you will play a crucial role in managing non-performing loan administration, ensuring compliance with credit union policies and procedures, and adhering to applicable legal rules and federal, state, and local regulations.



Key Responsibilities


  • Manage assigned workflow and meet or exceed key performance requirements and metrics as established by management.
  • Communicate effectively with borrowers, attorneys, and internal teams regarding bankruptcy status, loss mitigation options, and asset recovery.
  • Process and analyze bankruptcy documents, including annual escrow analysis, notice of payment change, and reconciliation of final accounting of payments made during the bankruptcy case.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to loan operating systems, including bankruptcy tracking dates, notes, tasks, steps, pre and post-petition payments, and imaging of related documents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to research, identify, and correct processing and payment application errors.


Qualifications


  • High School diploma or equivalent; advanced education preferred, including a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of relevant experience in loan administration, bankruptcy processing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with loan operating systems, including but not limited to PACER, ICE/MSP, ALS, NICE, and OnBase.
  • Strong PC skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with credit union policies and procedures, including relevant Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and/or MI servicing guidelines.
  • Familiarity with pertinent local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including Bankruptcy laws and FDCPA.
