The Department of Neural and Behavioral Sciences at Penn State College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Yongsoo Kim lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on brain cell type architecture maps of mammalian brains using mice as an animal model.
Research FocusThe lab is currently working on three main lines of research:
- Brain-wide mapping of brain cell types, including GABAergic neurons, glia, and cerebrovascular network
- Anatomical and functional investigation of the oxytocin system in the context of social behavior and neurodevelopment
- Creating 3D atlases for developing mouse brains
The researcher will utilize high-resolution 3D imaging tools and computational approaches to examine cellular resolution details in the whole mouse brain. Additionally, they will use systems neuroscience approaches to examine circuit-specific function in the brain.
RequirementsA Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related field is required by the appointment date. The ideal candidate will have expertise in animal behavior tracking using deep learning and its causal link with specific neural circuits. Experience in circuit manipulation tools, such as optogenetics and chemogenetics, is highly desirable. However, candidates with other experimental and/or data skills are welcome to apply.
