Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct food production and service to patients, ensuring high-quality meals and exceptional customer service.
  • Supervise NFS staff, including Clinical Nutrition Manager, production/cafeteria supervisors, and managers, to ensure efficient operations and effective communication.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise standards and policies relating to food production, storage, service, and sanitation.
  • Assess workflow, priorities, and resources in the food service area and Room Service 4 You Patient Dining Program to ensure optimal provision of services.
  • Ensure necessary training and education is provided to cooks, diet office staff, and food service workers, and provide cross-training and backup plans for unplanned staff shortages.
  • Maintain current and up-to-date position descriptions and essential functions for NFS staff, and conduct performance evaluations with clear expectations and development plans.
  • Responsible for department sanitation, monitoring updates, and training staff in all areas of sanitation.
  • Ensure food services operate in compliance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, CMS, and applicable state and local codes.
  • Provide objective, constructive input, recommendations, and problem-solving solutions through the performance improvement process.
  • Collaborate with NFS Supervisory team and Clinical Nutrition Manager to identify problems and find solutions.
  • Responsible for ordering perishable food supplies and maintaining kitchen storage areas in a sanitary and organized fashion.
  • Collaborate with Sous Chef, cooks, and Catering Supervisor on menu and recipe development, and assessment of food products and their uses.
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner, adhering to CVMC policies and procedures.
  • Notify direct supervisor of infractions of policy, procedure, laws, and regulations as identified.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an associate degree and active Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification.
  • Five years of food service management experience in an acute care setting.
