POSITION SUMMARY

The Aerospace Coatings Specialist is responsible for the painting and sealing processes of aircraft and their components. This role includes tasks such as surface preparation, masking, and handling of chemicals, with potential involvement in the application of paint and sealants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare surfaces for painting or sealing according to established guidelines, utilizing abrasives, solvents, and brushes.
  • Install masking for various aircraft painting details.
  • Mix, stir, and thin paint or other coatings using appropriate tools.
  • Execute the spraying of base and top coatings, ensuring adherence to technical and quality standards.
  • Apply sealants while maintaining compliance with technical and quality requirements.
  • Apply logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces according to specifications, using measuring instruments and stencils.
  • Utilize appropriate technical references and tools for painting and sealing tasks.
  • Conduct cleaning and maintenance of all painting and sealing equipment.
  • Set up ladders and scaffolding in accordance with regulations and aircraft requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal and local environmental regulations as well as OSHA/TOSHA standards.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in an aeronautical environment in a painting capacity.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Expertise in the preparation and painting of aircraft and related components.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures for handling chemicals.
  • Understanding of blueprints and painting diagrams.
  • Proficient in paint spraying techniques.
  • Knowledge of technical management and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to work safely and professionally, adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Must be capable of being certified and/or able to wear a respirator.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must adhere to all regulatory requirements including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Ability to wear a respirator as required by OSHA regulations.
  • Flexibility to work various hours and shifts as needed.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FAA regulations.
