Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lactation Registered Nurse PRN to join our team at St. David's Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to new mothers and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive breastfeeding education and support to patients and families, adhering to current AAP guidelines and recommendations.
  • Assist with the management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems, utilizing your expertise to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Deliver lactation discharge teaching instruction and resources to ensure ongoing support for patients post-discharge.
  • Collaborate with maternal nursing staff to provide consistent and accurate information to new mothers, promoting a seamless patient experience.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures within the scope of breastfeeding, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience in adult education, with a focus on teaching and training.
  • 2 years of teaching experience as a certified instructor in childbirth education, preferred.
  • High school education or equivalent, with a preference for a graduate degree from an accredited school or professional nursing program.
  • Certification by a national childbirth education credentialing organization (Lamaze or ICEA) within 18 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David's Healthcare policy.
