Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team at Saxon Global. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our development team deployment infrastructure.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the high availability and security of our systems, as well as collaborating with multiple development teams to facilitate testing and validation activities. You will also be responsible for optimizing processes, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to reduce production vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor installed development systems and infrastructure
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools
  • Ensure high levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
  • Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
  • Document deployment processes
  • Create infrastructure diagrams to enable clear communication and understanding of deployment infrastructure
  • Identify potential issues and implement solutions proactively

Requirements and Skills:

  • 5 years of Linux administration experience
  • Comfortable in bash scripting
  • Solid experience in one additional scripting language (e.g., Ruby, Groovy, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Ability to utilize scripting to perform different actions
  • Working knowledge of Docker with hands-on experience
  • Prior experience with VM management and preferably VMWare
  • Thorough understanding of Kubernetes
  • Ability to work within CaaS infrastructure
  • Solid networking knowledge
  • Experience facilitating hand-offs to operations teams for deployment to stage and production environments

Preferred Requirements and Skills:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Networking, or a related subject
  • Ansible
  • Python and/or Perl
  • Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
  • Experience with Splunk

Requirements:

  • 8 years of experience in Linux Administration
  • Scripting Language - Bash preferred
  • Experience moving to a team/organization to a more Automated process
  • Kubernetes/Docker experience
  • Background in Security preferred over networking background
  • Splunk is a big plus (Ok with Datadog or ElasticSearch)
