RESPONSIBILITIES

Weatherford is seeking a Quality Engineer to enhance our operations.

The Quality Engineer (QE) is tasked with the development and execution of manufacturing quality enhancement strategies aimed at steering manufacturing facilities towards ZERO DEFECTS and ZERO QUALITY ESCAPES. Additionally, the role involves striving to minimize the company’s Cost of Quality (COQ) while standardizing quality best practices across the Weatherford Global Manufacturing network.

A successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Product Lines, Manufacturing, and their supervisor regularly, as well as present plans and updates to internal teams.

SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
  • Adheres to all safety and compliance protocols; prioritizes compliance and safety in all business areas
  • In the event of safety concerns, quality non-conformances, or integrity issues, exercises 'Stop Work Authority' to halt operations
  • Upholds the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are conducted ethically and in compliance with company policies, relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices
  • Ensures that controls are established to guarantee compliance with government regulations regarding quality
OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY
  • Aids in the creation and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans to guide manufacturing facilities towards Zero Defects and Zero Quality Escapes, as well as reducing Cost of Quality (COQ)
  • Develops and standardizes procedures, quality control plans, sampling plans, inspection test plans, work instructions, and quality templates/forms across manufacturing facilities.
  • Collects, analyzes, and summarizes quality performance data, applying statistical tools and reports to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilizes techniques and tools to enhance the output quality of processes by identifying and eliminating the root causes of defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing processes.
  • Identifies, documents, communicates, and standardizes best practices to mitigate defects.
  • Implements a systematic approach to NCR performance management, tracking, trending, and reporting.
  • Identifies technical competencies required by various manufacturing trades to produce products per Engineering technical documentation.
  • Assists in the implementation of quality-related systems, processes, and tools.
  • Coordinates and conducts internal process audits.
  • Prepares inspection test reports.
  • Interprets Design Engineering data (including blueprints, Bills of Material, specifications), and customer requirements
  • Develops positive relationships and collaborates closely with Engineering, Manufacturing leaders, and shop floor personnel to manage and implement changes related to quality enhancements.
  • Identifies and reports any quality concerns and takes immediate corrective action as necessary.
CLIENT COMMUNICATION
  • Engages with both internal and external customers regarding manufacturing quality.
  • Collaborates closely with Manufacturing and Lean Continuous Improvement teams to strive for Zero Defects and Zero Quality Escapes.
QUALIFICATION

Experience & Education

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in Quality or Engineering (with a focus on Quality) in an industrial setting
  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience with quality-related continuous improvement initiatives
PREFERRED
  • Training in Root Cause Analysis and Incident Investigation
  • Lean & Six Sigma Certification
  • ASQ Certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, technical notes, procedures, and specifications
  • Proven skills in problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, leadership, root-cause analysis, and team collaboration to lead and influence others towards change
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
  • Demonstrated report-writing capabilities
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills across functions - both verbal and written
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a knack for critical thinking
