Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanic III to join our team at Hampton Roads Transit. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle malfunctions, including electrical and mechanical issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs to ensure vehicles are in good working condition
  • Work with minimal supervision to complete tasks and meet deadlines
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operations
  • Stay up-to-date with manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical degree preferred
  • 3+ years of heavy duty shop experience, with a focus on vehicle repair and maintenance
  • CDL Class B license and/or permit required; ability to acquire a valid Virginia CDL Class B license with air brake and passenger endorsements within 60 days of employment
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and meet night vision requirements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
