About the Role

Portsmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Same Day Care Oncology team as a PRN (per diem) nurse. As a Same Day Care Oncology Registered Nurse PRN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draw blood from ports, central lines, and peripheral IV access, and perform other procedures as needed.
  • Assist physicians with patient assessments and maintain patient care standards.
  • Initiate and document appropriate interventions, evaluate and record patient/family response within practice protocol.
  • Follow established oncology protocols to maintain clean and safe working environments.
  • Deliver chemotherapy in accordance with prescribed protocols and NECS guidelines.
  • Perform injections and IV therapy (IV starts, PICC line/Port Access) utilizing aseptic technique.
  • Calculate/verify AUC dosing, CrCl, IVIG dosing.
  • Operate infusion pumps.
  • Perform therapeutic phlebotomy in accordance with physician orders.
  • Evaluate lab data in conjunction with the provider to provide appropriate care to the patient.
  • Provide patient education at chairside regarding therapies patient is receiving.
  • Evaluate side effects and toxicities of therapy and provide for their management.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Licensed RN within the State of New Hampshire.
  • ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Certification required within 6 (six) months of hire.
  • Two years plus RN experience required.
  • Oncology Certification Nurse OCN certification required within 1 (one) year of hire or when eligible based on ONCC criteria.
  • INS required within 2 (two) years of hire or when eligible based on INS criteria.
  • Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
