Job Summary:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the continuous and cost-effective supply of materials, services, and equipment to meet the needs of manufacturing operations at Inter-Coastal Electronics, Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as liaison between Inter-Coastal Electronics, Inc. and suppliers in support of contract manufacturing and build-to-print parts.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to meet production schedules.
  • Performs requirements analysis on components prior to acting on MRP.
  • Solicits proposals, negotiates price and terms, and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Determines and documents purchasing specifications and performance requirements on purchase orders.
  • Maintains organization of supplier lead times, MOQ, volume price breaks, and promised delivery dates.
  • Analyzes manufacturing requirements, engineering design, and/or technical data when necessary.
  • Creates and maintains mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster supply continuity, process understanding, continuous improvement, and transparency.
  • Assists in timely disposition and corrective actions for non-conforming purchased materials with quality team members and vendors.
  • Resolves invoicing issues with accounting and suppliers.
  • Identifies, investigates, and recommends potential and existing suppliers.
  • Helps identify internal and external risks in the supply chain, conducts research, and offers solutions.
  • Leads special projects as assigned.
  • Assists in creating and implementing department procedures.
  • Helps with Obsolescence Reports.
  • Performs end-of-year Supplier Evaluations per AS9100.
  • Performs other duties as needed for the efficient and effective functioning of the Materials Department.

Problem Solving and Discretion/Latitude:

  • Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity, and refers to policies and practices for guidance.
  • Works under general direction.
  • Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.

Knowledge/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience, or continued education toward degree and at least 8 years of purchasing experience.
  • Government contractor experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing or engineering industry purchasing experience required.
