**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Supported Community Living Specialist to join our team at Nishna Productions Inc. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and train individuals in developing skills necessary for daily living, including health and medical needs, community participation, and advocacy.
- Orient new individuals in their homes, assess their skills, and provide input for subsequent progress reports and Person-Centered Plans.
- Supervise individual goals, complete data collection, and ensure the individual's finances are managed effectively.
- Provide a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere, ensuring the individual's residence meets cleanliness, safety, and health standards.
- Complete all records and documentation using proper forms and procedures.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous similar job experience in teaching skills of cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
- Valid Iowa Chauffeur's license and acceptable driving record.
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical, TB Tine, and drug screenings.
- Ability to work independently and ensure the welfare and safety of persons served in a residential setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 70 miles, enter and exit resident homes, and perform laundry duties.
- Ability to carry necessary supplies up to 50 pounds and provide physical care necessary to residents.
- Ability to assist individuals with mobility impairments and provide emergency/safety skills training.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working in a residential setting with individuals who may have behavioral disorders. The successful candidate must be willing to work with individuals who have aggressive outbursts and be able to maintain confidentiality.
