Position Overview:

Are you skilled in the procurement of goods and services? The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is in search of a meticulous individual to oversee the sourcing, pricing, and processing of purchase requests for various materials and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement of goods and services
  • Preparation of requisitions and purchase orders that do not require bidding
  • Establishment of pricing and identification of product sources
  • Solicitation of both verbal and written quotations
  • Research of commodity specifications and contractual terms to develop bids and proposals
  • Analysis of submitted proposals, incorporating end-user feedback, and preparing recommendations for approval
  • Exploration of new vendor sources and maintenance of vendor lists
  • Communication with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and market trends
  • Participation in commodity surveys, pre-bid conferences, and bid openings
  • Supervision of an inmate workforce
  • Driving for state business as required
  • Additional duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • The Arizona Procurement Code and statewide procurement software
  • Departmental purchasing policies and procedures
  • Standard purchasing practices
  • Business administration principles, including accounting and business law
  • A variety of commodities and products
  • Supply sourcing techniques
  • Market pricing trends

Skills in:

  • Materials management
  • Purchasing and procurement
  • Business administration and mathematics
  • Computer operation and proficiency in software applications

Ability to:

  • Interpret the Arizona Procurement Code and related departmental policies
  • Utilize statewide procurement software effectively
  • Work within a correctional environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification as a Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB) or as an Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) is highly desirable.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Successful candidates must pass a background investigation and drug screening. If driving is a requirement, a valid driver's license and completion of necessary training are mandatory.
