Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Miller Environmental Group Inc. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment to remove, package, store, or transport loads of waste materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including Dozers, Compactors, Excavators, Articulated Trucks, Loaders, and Graders
  • Comply with safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Perform daily equipment walk-around inspections and preventive maintenance responsibilities
  • Identify, remove, pack, transport, or dispose of hazardous materials
  • Assist in creating containment areas prior to beginning abatement or decontamination work
  • Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks, using hoists or forklifts
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old
  • Valid unrestricted drivers' license with an excellent driving record, Class A or B CDL preferred
  • Ability to work weekends and extended hours as needed
  • Ability to travel and work at remote sites as needed
  • Basic math, mechanical, teamwork, and troubleshooting skills
  • Must pass fit for duty physical, drug and alcohol screening, and detailed background check
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of safety, mechanical, Hazmat, equipment, and/or equivalent training
  • Prior construction experience helpful, but not required
Work Environment

The work environment is primarily performed in the field, outdoors in the heat or cold for 8-12 hours per day. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

To reduce exposure to harmful materials, workers often wear coveralls, gloves, shoe covers, safety glasses, or goggles. Some must wear fully enclosed protective suits for several hours at a time; these suits may be hot and uncomfortable and may cause the workers who wear them to experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces). In extremely toxic cleanups, hazmat workers are required to wear respirators or personal air monitors.
