As a key member of our mental health team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health services to inmates/wards under the guidance of senior psychologists, supervisors, or supervising psychiatric social workers.
Key Responsibilities- Mental Health Assessments: Conduct thorough mental health assessments, considering criminal, psychological, and substance history, to identify relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders.
- Crisis Intervention: Engage with mentally ill patient-inmates/youths for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, and face-to-face interviews, including conducting clinical interviews at cell fronts in inmate housing units.
- Treatment Planning: Develop treatment plans that adhere to the standard of practice, writing clinical reports on diagnoses and prognoses, and consulting with supervisors and treatment team members as needed.
- Documentation: Thoroughly document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTTs) meetings, using recommended Mental Health-approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
- Monitoring Progress: Monitor inmate progress using recommended Mental Health-approved documentation formatting for progress notes, and apply community standards of practice for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards effectively.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with supervisors, treatment team members, institutional health care personnel, and other divisions within the department on complex cases, and participate in IDTT meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
- Reporting: Report suspected conditions according to mandated reporting requirements pertaining to staff members delivering mental health services, such as child abuse, elder abuse, danger to self or others, Tarasoff reporting, and other confidentiality mandates.
- Valid California LCSW License: Possess a valid and active California LCSW license.
- Experience: Have at least 12 consecutive months of performing similar services within the last 3 years.
- Certifications: Hold BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (with AED).
- Language Proficiency: Be proficient in the English Language (Speaking/Writing).
