Phlebotomist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Preferred Primary Care Physicians. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Escort patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as needed.
  • Record patient data, including vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, and reason for visit.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
  • Answer patient phone calls and contact pharmacies for prescriptions.
  • Obtain patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, and consults as required by the physician or nurse.
  • Collect blood specimens from peripheral sites in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions.
  • Assist with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Prepare, maintain, and stock exam and treatment rooms.
  • Process instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Inform the physician of patient reschedules or no-shows.
  • Assist with delegated patient education activities.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of medical assisting is preferred.
  • Three years of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting is preferred.
