Position Overview

Role: Patient Care LPN
Location: Riverhead, NY

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures established by New York Cancer and Blood Specialists.
  • Maintain and update electronic patient records while assisting in the digitization of paper records.
  • Document patient details including vital signs, weight, and any changes in medical history prior to appointments.
  • Prepare and sanitize examination rooms before patient visits.
  • Manage front office duties such as answering calls and welcoming patients.
  • Support inventory management and order supplies as necessary.
  • Measure and record vital signs accurately.
  • Conduct patient interviews to gather medical history and primary concerns.
  • Educate patients on medication usage, disease management, home care, and dietary needs.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
  • Assist physicians during examinations.
  • Carry out phlebotomy and collect various lab specimens.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests.
  • Conduct EKGs.
  • Administer medications as per physician's orders, ensuring adherence to the five rights of medication administration to minimize errors.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State LPN license is mandatory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role or demonstrated potential for leadership is preferred.
  • Exhibit consistent professionalism and a keen attention to detail.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Familiarity with OncoEMR is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as required.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday.
Compensation: Up to $28 per hour.
